Joel Ising is a college student in the University of the Philippines who joined the subversive organization known as the Laniakea. He was given a paintball blaster that shot splotches of colorful yet corrosive paint.
His Above and Beyond counterpart is Josephine Ising.
At some point in 2018, Joel Ising enrolled in Philippine Science High School's Main Campus.
Joel was known to be one of the top students in his batch, which attracted the attention of an organization that would later become known as the Laniakea. As a plot to recruit Dionysus, Tyriann took him aside to recruit him, giving him a special paintball gun, allowing him and Ebenezer to handle Dionysus while Sachikayla talked to Amarantha.
Joel attends the batch's Graduation Ball after he graduates high school. During the ball, he loses his memory due to the cataclysmic result of Sachikayla and Tyriann's falling out.

Joel is keen and observant, an expert at piecing together the big picture no matter how small the details are. He is extremely loyal to the Laniakea primarily due to the L.E.N.S.es affecting his mind, though the incident at the Graduation Ball has changed that momentarily.
